Typical winstub
A porch in the central street, 5 stairs down and you find yourself in a small restaurant in the basement, pleasant and typical of Alsace.
We ate local specialties, hot and good.
We had not booked and we ended up in a charming little intimate room of a few tables upstairs, little flat concerning our whimsical waiter.

Basic hotel, medieval experience in the heart of the Alsace region
The owner told us the building dated from the 1400s, and we could believe it.
The rooms are more grim, dark apartments of varying sizes, with memorabilia, lots half-timber sightings, creaky wooden steps straight out of a Grimm Brothers' production but (thankfully) clean toilets. The beds were simple but comfortable and the curule attached to the bedroom was a nice place to observe life in a medieval setting, if you will.
If you're lucky enough to be assigned an apartment on a higher floor, try not to descend some of the steps too quickly, especially after a drink.
Though it's a very basic property, we found it an interesting experience. There were a few things lacking: (1) You need to pretend the blower in the toilet actually works (or open one of the bedroom windows), (2) The Wi-fi is terrible, and (3) Ditto for the heating (maybe it was just our room). Otherwise, the cleanliness was impeccable.
The restaurant wasn't open when we stayed there, so cannot comment, though it looked like it could generate a good vibe.
The location of the hotel is fantastic - everything worthwhile to see in town is just 100-200m away.
The memorabilia in such family-run hotels always excites, and this is particularly so in the Alsace region which suffered so much during the world wars. There was a black-and-white picture of a band from 1939, with most members posing with their instruments, looking jolly. Probably the local Blues Brothers. One can't help but wonder what happened to them and what stories their descendants, if they survived, could tell.

Excellent location
The location of this property is its strong point, located in the main street of Riquewir, an enchanted Alsatian village.
It is a winstube with rooms inside a half-timbered house so the context is historical and consequently the rooms are too.
I recommend it to those looking for authenticity at a fair price.

A great setting that immerses us in a warm atmosphere.
The service was fast and the servers were smiling.

Not great
Tarte flambet was a thick layer of sour cream, not crispy. Super lame. Chicken was neither seasoned nor fried properly. A cozy restaurant, nice decoration. The crème brulé has far too much alcohol and far too thick a layer of sugar.
