A Stunning, Eco-Friendly Oasis in Amsterdam – Highly Recommended!
Outstanding Customer Service
The front desk staff went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and enjoyable. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating, from storing our bags before check-in to giving us great recommendations for ATMs and places to explore in Amsterdam.
One of the best customer service moments happened when we had an early morning excursion and didn’t have time for the included breakfast. The staff thoughtfully packed us a delicious to-go breakfast bag, which was waiting for us at the front desk before our tour pickup. It included snacks, fruit, water, apple juice, and the most delicious loaf cake—a small but huge gesture of hospitality that made a big difference for us. Special THANK YOU to the staff member who handled that for us .
Breathtaking Hotel Design & Ambiance
The moment you step inside, the lush greenery and plant-filled spaces create a peaceful, calming atmosphere. The combination of modern architecture with natural elements makes the entire hotel feel like a serene urban jungle retreat.

Our room had an incredible view overlooking the bay area and canals of Amsterdam, making our mornings and evenings truly picturesque.
Fantastic Breakfast & Dining Experience
The included breakfast was one of our favorite parts of the stay! Everything was fresh, diverse, and well-prepared, offering something for everyone. Some highlights:
Eggs Benedict, hash browns, mini waffles, and pancakes
A variety of pastries and fresh salad
☕ Four to five self-serve coffee machines for fresh espressos and cappuccinos (which I took full advantage of!)
Having breakfast in a space filled with beautiful plants and greenery made it an even more enjoyable experience.
A Few Notes on Room Design
While the room was modern and well-appointed, the shower setup is something to consider. The shower/bathroom area is separated by a sliding door, and if you’re sharing a twin room with someone who isn’t a significant other, it could be a bit tricky since there’s less privacy with this design if someone is showering. However, this did not take away from our amazing experience—just something to be aware of and coordinate around like we did.
Final Thoughts – Highly Recommended!
This hotel is a hidden gem in Amsterdam—beautiful, peaceful, eco-friendly, and affordable for the quality of service and amenities offered. The thoughtful customer service, the stunning greenery-filled design, and the fantastic breakfast and dining options made our stay truly memorable.
If you’re visiting Amsterdam, Hotel Jakarta is a must-stay! We would absolutely stay here again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A touch of Indonesia in Amsterdam
The hotel is gorgeous and looks exactly as depicted on the website. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was delicious!!! The Indonesian dinner menu did not disappoint! The nasi goreng was delicious! BReakfast was also included and had a nice variety of offerings: deli meat and cheese, vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes), scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, pancakes, waffles, fruit, yogurt, granola (bars & loose), hot and cold beverages.
Malabar lounge is on the 8th floor and is a great way to end the day with drinks and enjoy the beautiful view of the city. On Friday and Saturday nights they have a DJ that comes in and plays music.
The hotel is outside of the City Centre so you will need to take a bus (#43 from Tosaristraat) from the hotel or tram (#26 from Kattenburgerstraat) to get to Centraal Station, which takes about 15 mins. From Centraal Station you can walk or take a tram to Dam Square or other attractions.
The staff are friendly and very welcoming - Chormina, Jermaine and Lisa stood out to me. I have stayed at many hotels and resorts throughout Canada, USA, Caribbean and Europe and I must say that the hotel manager, Frank Tuhusula, was very attentive to all guests. If you were sitting in the lobby he would ask if there was anything that was needed; making sure everyone was looked after and doing okay. If the other 2 front end staff were busy checking in other guests and there were other guests waiting to be checked in, he was ready and willing to assist with checking them in. Truly a team player that supports his team!
No complaints staying at Hotel Jakarta, strongly recommend staying there and will be back again.

Stunning hotel with great staff, great food and great ambience
The really good
- Hotel is just simply stunning. It blew our minds a bit, the combination of wood and plant life was just stunning.
- Hotel staff, all of them smiling, happy and want to help. We got stuck in a lift, they were great (they left a lovely note and some chocolate before we even got back to our room).
- Restaurant is stunning and has wonderful food, great selection of drinks.
- The bar is also unique in location. We went early evening during the week and it wasn't very busy at all. That probably changes later in the evening though. At night it is something quite incredible.
- The spa was very good, we had a treatment each and it was lovely and reasonably priced.
- The room was wonderful. We had balcony room with bath. the bath was great and the room had all the features you would expect - slippers, toiletries, robe, safe etc. The beds were made each day and coffee machine topped up. We did ask for more coffee frequently because we drink a lot of it!
- We stayed for our 15th Wedding Anniversary and were wonderfully surprised by a note and small gift waiting for us on the bed. I also pre-ordered some Prosecco which was on ice when we got to our room with a couple of glasses.
The good
- The swimming pool was small, aesthetically very 'spa' like but the water was cold! The swimming pool room is south facing with big windows, making it very warm.
- Breakfast every morning was great but I found the hot selection was cold. The selection is very good, everything from pastries to cereal, to fried. Coffee and juices are available and it is buffet style so fill your boots!
The not so good
- Nothing to do with the hotel but the mosquitos are animals! We left our balcony window open and they must have snuck in. We got eaten alive one night and the mosquitos are huge! Maybe bring some bug repellent!
- Not a major problem because public transport is available via bus and tram very easily. However, we did find the hotel was quite a walk from the centre of Amsterdam. This was a choice for us and we chose to walk. So be prepared and we highly recommend utilising the public transport - it's cheap and very reliable.
If I went back to Amsterdam, I don't think I could stay anywhere else.
