Good location with helpful staff and good food

Nice friendly hotel . I attended a conference here and found the staff ,service and food were very good. The service in the restaurant was fast, friendly and very efficient. Nice menu of carvery food - good portions and very tasty . It was served very efficiently and promptly .

Appalling hotel and customer service!

Had a reservation at the Lucan Spa on 21st - 23rd March, however due to the Heathrow fire on the 21st which cancelled all flights, we were unable to fly to Dublin. We contacted the hotel but was told we would be charged a 50% cancellation fee due to it being within 24 hours of check-in, I challenged this fee due to the exceptional circumstances of the Heathrow closure and asked for the manager to call me to discuss. I called a further two times and was told the manager would contact me. After seven hours after the 1st contact I again reached out but was told by the the receptionist Erica that as my booking was through Hotels.com they wouldn't be able to refund me anyway. I then contacted Hotels.com who then contacted the Lucan Spa hotel to explain again the exceptional circumstances of the flight cancellations but we're told that now no refund for the the two nights would be payable. I'm completely appalled of the level of customer service I have received and professionalism of this hotel. This has shown that the hotel and owners are clearly just money orientated and not focused on delivering a good level of customer service. Anyone with common sense would see the exceptional circumstances of the Heathrow closure was clearly not in my control and therefore why would you punish the customer. I was considering rebooking for another time but after this experience I would not be staying at this hotel again and would not recommend anyone staying here.

Dear Darren,
I appreciate you reaching out regarding your recent experience. While we completely understand that the Heathrow power outage and resulting flight cancellations were beyond your control, we must clarify that they were also entirely beyond ours. As a small, independent hotel, we cannot be held financially responsible for disruptions caused by external events such as airline cancellations or airport closures.
Our cancellation policy, which is clearly stated at the time of booking and ticked as agreed when you made your booking, exists to protect us from last-minute cancellations that result in lost revenue. This policy applies regardless of the reason for the cancellation, as we still incur costs for holding rooms that cannot be resold on such short notice.
Two senior members of our team explained this policy to you over the phone, yet you continued to request to speak with our General Manager. Unfortunately, the GM was on sick leave at the time, but I must stress that his response would not have been any different, as our policies remain consistent.
Furthermore, we note that Hotels.com informed you that they would be charging you for the full two-night stay. This is incorrect information. They are breaking their own policies and should only be charging you for one night stay. In addition to this, as a hotel, we are only being paid for one night—and that is after Hotels.com deducts their 17% commission. If the information you have provided is correct, in this transaction, Hotels.com is in fact obtaining a higher revenue share than we are (17% of the first night, 100% of the second night). If you have concerns about the amount you were charged, we strongly encourage you to direct your complaint to Hotels.com, as they are the party that processed the payment, not us.
While we regret that you feel this way in your review, we can see you have yet to place an equally negative review on Heathrow Airport's Google profile (the institution actually responsible to the situation you find yourself in). We hope you are holding the billion-pound revenue companies—Expedia/Hotels.com (pre-tax profits of $1.22 billion in 2024), Heathrow Airport (pre-tax profits of £917 million in 2024), and your airline—equally accountable in your reviews, as they are the parties responsible for your inability to travel and for charging you directly.
That said, if you wish to seek compensation for your disrupted travel plans, the appropriate parties to contact would be Heathrow Airport, your airline carrier, or your travel insurance provider—entities responsible for your inability to travel, rather than a small, family-run hotel that upheld its part of the booking agreement.
While I regret that this situation has caused frustration, our policies are in place to ensure fairness to all our guests and to protect our business. I have emailed your no-show invoice to support everything I have discussed above to disprove what Expedia/Hotels.com customer support have informed you and also to assist with any claim with your airline or travel insurance.

Nice hotel

My daughter and I stayed here last weekend for a night in a twin room. I was worried there would be noise from the road but there was no need to be as I slept like a baby. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The room and bathroom were on the smaller side but perfectly adequate. Breakfast was full Irish typical for hotels nothing special. We didn’t have dinner so can’t comment. The bar when we came back in the evening had Irish music on. I will stay here again when in Dublin as value for money it was spot on, cheapest rate for the evening of Saint Patrick’s day.

We had have carvery lunch at Lucan Spa Hotel Sunday 9th, it was honestly the best carvery food I've ever had. A huge portion of Slow cooked beef, roast veg and all the trimmings, no wonder you offer half portions!
The chefs were proud to explain the dishes abd staff were lovely. Honestly worth a visit
