Pleasant tea stop

One of 3 cafes/bakeries/patisseries in Bad Peterstal.
We popped in for a late cup of tea.
The building comprises an hotel/a patisserie to the front and a restaurant at the rear.There is also an outside seating area.
The service was good and the tea well presented.
Someone else in our party had a meal here which they recommended.

Not what it used to be

New ownership has made a lot of changes and it is not for the better. There has been a noticeable cutback to the free included morning breakfast and the coffee that is now served is extremely weak with no flavor. The furniture in the rooms is also in serious need of updating. We stayed here in 2015 and all was fine but when we returned for a 2 week stay in 2018 we found that it is not managed as before. Another problem is the late night noise created by the local hangout across the street as well as the traffic. We will stay elsewhere next year when we return to this area.

Great access to many hiking opportunities

We really loved the apartment we rented for a week and plan to return for another two week stay in the future. There are numerous hiking trails just out the door and several more in Bad Greisbach just 4 minutes away by train. Use your free tourist pass to ride the trains or buses at no cost.
The free breakfast is good and there are several bakeries nearby as well as an Edeka food store near the train/bus stations (banhof) which is a 5 to 10 minute walk away.
Pros are the location to everything plus access to an in house washer and dryer.
The only con is that the hotel is on the main road through the village and there is some traffic noise from large trucks and motorcycles passing right in front of the hotel.
Lots less noise on weekdays.
One of the family owners (Marco) speaks perfect English so if needed you can obtain information in that language.
Looking forward to our next stay in this wonderful hotel.

Family stay

The owners were so helpful when we first got in touch with them to book two rooms for us and our children (we had a shared balcony and next door rooms). Very tasty bakery products for breakfast and friendly staff. We ate at the Thursday Flammkuchenabend too. It's right in the middle of the village so within easy walking of the spas and few shops and ten minute stroll through the park to the open air pool. Really recommend.

Luxury Hotel at a very affordable price

I booked this last minute and when arriving the staff were very friendly and helpful. They took me up to my room and I felt like I had walked into a Delux hotel. The decoration was relaxing and bright. There was a big TV and phone in the room. With my own balcony to sit out on! Just what I needed after a long drive. There was a sun shade on the balcony if I wanted to use it. The bathroom was clean with planty of towels even one for the shower to step out on to. Marco the owner was very helpful with all the information on the area of what to see and even answered all my questions about the village. I had been in the Black Forest for a week and not got round to having Black Forest cake so it was down to the Cafe after I had seen my room for a coffee and cake. The coffee was given free as a welcome. The breakfast was set out well and fresh coffee was made as soon as you sat down. The staff made sure all the time you were ok and if you wanted more coffee. It was great to see all the staff work as a team with always a smile on their faces. There was a open sitting area by the rooms with books and a small fridge with drinks in. All I can say is if you dont stay here just at least stop for coffee and cake or a meal as you will not be disappointed.
