Great Sunday Roast

Had a great roast dinner. Fresh and beautifully cooked. Starters were great portions, and the cauliflower cheese was delicious!!! We will definitely be going back. Staff were welcoming, and provided a great service and ambience. Many thanks!.

Well placed and friendly hotel

Enjoyed a one night stay in the Cromwell Lodge. Very, friendly and welcoming staff throughout our stay, from our welcome at reception through to breakfast nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location in the town with parking at the rear. There was a birthday function being held in the hotel with some noise but we were warned in advance, it wasn't a problem. Comfortable large room, very good value. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked to order with quality ingredients. Will definitely stay again when we are in the area.

An excellent meal !!!

We use Green King pubs frequently as you allow dogs… and as a veterinarian I will often order the same meal … there was a bit of a wait for the food … BUT it was worth it … the best I have ever eaten in a green king pub… the portions were of a good size .. the food hot … presented well … and cooked very well… will done that chef !!! The bar staff were also lovely and welcoming!!! A very positive and enjoyable experience. Thank you

Poor

From arrival when we felt like an inconvenience as they were busy, to a small and tired room that could do with a good deep clean, it feels like this place is in desperate need of a refurb. It also felt like someone else was in our room every time they walked past as you could feel every footstep. Appreciate it's an old building, but it needs a lot of love. The breakfast experience however topped it all. 30 minutes to get a cup of tea and over an hour to get food being told constantly it won't be long and they were busy. Yes a refund has been offered, but it really shouldn't get to that stage. Very disappointing.

Finest Beef & Ale Pie I've tasted

Service was polite, friendly and professional - thanks Joey! - and sitting in a comfy sofa chair next to a roaring fire and supping on a pint of Abbott whilst doing my cryptic crossword was the epitome of bliss, especially when I tucked into the scrummiest beef & ale pie I have ever tasted. I'll be back!
