Best Hotel we have spent a night this year.

One of best hotels / guest houses in the UK I think we have spent time in. We had Room one, it was very clean, decor was lovely, bed was terrific. Room good size, in fact our bed was so comfortable we simply slept in, and then almost missed breakfast. OK so we were late for breakfast, but we were really lucky as it was kept warm for us, we were so glad no too have missed it as our breakfast was outstanding. Honestly it was cooked to perfection, must mention the coffee machine it's great, you must try the café au lait. Anyway try the chilled, fresh fruit, it includes strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and if want pineapple and yoghurt they were all spot on. If you go to York then you will not be disappointed in staying here, good value and an outstanding place to stay. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. Mike and Jackie.

Excellent stay

Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights as a base to explore York and it was absolutely amazing. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. The freshly cooked breakfast included was delicious! Comfortable, clean rooms. The location was ideal, only a 20 minute walk into the centre of York and shops pubs etc just a 5 minute walk down the road. Excellent value for money, I would definitely recommend! Thank you tower guest house for a great stay! :)

Lovely place to stay

Stayed here in December for 2 nights and it was our second visit, the room has everything you need, fridge with fresh milk, water, kitkat and some pop, iron, ironing board and even a shoe horn, we were in room 4 and the 4 poster is really comfortable. Tony and Diana are lovely hosts and breakfast was really nice and there is a very good choice of hot food and the home made granola was very good. There was a group of us, couples, we had different rooms but they accommodated us all for breakfast at he same time. It's about a 15-20 nice minute walk into York so you can walk your breakfast off, there is a bus stop across the road and a taxi costs between £7-£8. As we were there in December everywhere is decorated for Christmas which makes it feel very special. Already booked for December this year

Definitely worth a visit

Room was comfortable and clean, but needed a couple of bits of TLC. Thermostat in room or the app didn’t work to reduce heat, but to be fair, we didn’t reach out to solve, as only there one night. Nice touch having fresh milk in the fridge, with cold drinks and chocolate, but maybe put a zero option for drinks in fridge for anyone diabetic. Could also help yourself to proper coffee, hot chocolate etc.
Breakfast was really nice, with lots of options. The poached egg was perfect, for a fussy poached egg eater.
Tony was friendly and informative and we will definitely stay again in the future.

Since your visit, we’ve installed a new, more reliable heating control system to improve guest comfort. We also do TLC touch-ups every January when things are a little quieter, so we’re always working to keep everything in top shape.
For diet drinks, if there isn’t one in the fridge, guests are always welcome to grab one from the drinks chiller in the dining area.

Hidden gem

We stayed in the Samurai room, with it's gorgeous sunken bath. Tony and Dianna couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. From the moment we arrived they made us both feel so at home. The breakfast was superb, you certainly need a walk into town afterwards!
We both said we we would stay here again. Highly recommend. Thank you and a very well deserved break for you both, Merry Christmas , Kaye and Peri x
