A hidden jewel with great bartender

Friends introduced us and we will late forget the place. Welcomed with positive attitude and perfect drinks. Views of the boats passing through the narrows while sipping on beverage was almost fictional. Dinner was delicious, and service exceptional. Free parking an reservations recommended.

Great place for our Wedding Anniversary and hoped for quiet and relaxing respite!

We are avid kayakers and we had originally thought we would spend our two night, two day, first time on Tilghman Island kayaking but it was quite windy (15-22mph) so too risky to try. However, other than the wind the weather was wonderful and the Tilghman Inn was the perfect place to stay! Very tastefully appointed and the view was gorgeous. The staff (hi Gwen) was very hospitable! The restaurant wasn't open on the nights we were there but Gwen was very helpful offering other suggestions nearby. The "serve yourself" breakfast was filling and the homemade muffins delicious. Our hike on nearby Black Walnut Point trail (pictures are from the trail) and finding a geocache (if you love this, you know what I'm talking about) made up for the disappointment of not kayaking. Falling asleep to the sound of the water lapping on the dock was so soothing. Hope to be back!

Lovely hotel but disappointing stay

Lovely hotel with lovely views. I hate to be snarky because I want to support a family owned hotel but here is what prevented me from giving five stars. No one ever came to empty our trash or change our towels/sheets. Not once. Never saw anyone at the front desk who I could ask for service, and when I called the hotel number posted at the desk, no one ever answered. The locks on the door were temperamental and sounded an alarm when you least expected it. (Not fun to wake up at 6 am to your neighbor’s door alarm.) I was grateful to have a “to go” breakfast box because Tilghman island only has one place where you could buy a breakfast sandwich. Nearby towns are 10-15 miles away. Given the other reviews, I think we had bad luck.

As you mentioned, as a family owned and operated business, it's very important to us that our guests feel they were treated and hosted as if they are also part of our family. We are looking into the phone system to ensure we are available to answer not only on our direct phones but our forwarding service so our team is available via phone during our operating hours while they may be assisting other guests or our kitchen team. Our locks are being worked on and I'm so sorry we were not able to address with you directly to ensure yours and your neighbors were fully functional. The Inn is located on a beautiful piece of land that looks out on marshes and water that leads out to the Chesapeake... just lovely. The hotel itself is charming and close to being a great experience. The trees and bushes on the property are beautiful. There are a few things they could do to help the place feel a little more polished. First of all the staff was pretty much non-existent when we had questions or wanted to check-out. The staff that was there was friendly enough when we checked in, but weren't visible the rest of our stay. Another issue was the lack of sound-proofing between rooms. Not sure what can be done about this and it wasn't horrible, since most people went to bed on the early side. But we could definitely hear the tv next door and the people's conversations in the hall. Maybe something could be put under the door to help with this last issue. The rooms that faced out to the water were definitely more desirable and had nice balconies. That would have been wonderful. Instead our room faced out to a "tennis court" that didn't have a net and was in such bad shape it can hardly be called a court. They should either repair this or get rid of it and plant a garden. The current state is unusable and an eye sore. The breakfast was also not amazing... hard boiled egg, deli meats and fish paste... hmmm. The location of this inn is also a bit out of the way, but a wonderful destination if you want to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of the Chesapeake.
